The Ancient Egyptian Civilization And The Egyptian Pyramids

The Ancient Egyptian civilization was one that lasted nearly thirty centuries, from around 3100 B.C. to 332 B.C. This is an impressive feat for any society to be able to conquer. In these thousands of years, the Pharaohs and their people were able to build structures of massive scale that rival the buildings built in the 21st century. The Egyptian Pyramids were not only massive, but they had extremely precise measurements that make them unfathomably impressive to anyone who understands the exactness of the pyramids. The accomplishment to be a nation that lasted that long while having societal ingenuity is yet to be seen by another. There were key aspects and advances that the Egyptians had discovered that helped them. The desert would†¦show more content†¦Even in the hot, rainless, and dry climate of Egypt, farming was the occupation of the majority of the population. The annual flooding of the Nile River left the soil fertile which was ideal for farming (Egyptian Irrigation Worshipped Plenty Nilometers Water Lifting Device). The irrigation of the land also helped the needs of the farmers. They formed basins using earthen walls that would criss-cross the land. When the Nile flooded, the basins would flood with up to 1.5 meters of water. This would wet and fertilize the land, allowing massive amounts of wheat and other crops to be planted and grown well (Postel). The basins are drained when the land is ready. The extra water is allowed to flow into other basins that are in need of water. The location of Ancient Egypt with the naturally fertile soil and the invention of an irrigation system was a large element in the success and years of prosperity that Egypt managed to obtain. Egypt would not have been able to be a civilization for thousands of years without strong and steady leadership. The Pharaohs established themselves as Gods on Earth and becoming the highest ranking religious official in all of Egypt (Mark).
